A '78 240D Manual Wagon FOR SALE.
Some may think that it's a little early for wagon wednesday, but the clock has just turned over where I live so here we go. With something I just discovered buried in the classified section of a vintage car mag that lives in my throne room.
A W114 Wagon! They are rarer than hen's teeth. I know that a few of them were built but I have yet to see one in person. The ad also doesn't mention an auto-box, which they always do if there is one. So this might be a highly obscure, manual, diesel, wagon. And one that you can actually buy!
( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! )
So let's start a little game. Find something that is more worthy of the Jalopnik holy grail! Just one condition: It has to be listed for sale somewhere right now.
Go!

Nice. He/she puts a pretty high price on it though. Or is that normal Klaus.

They are so fucking rare, that it's hard to establish a normal rate that these are going for. A sedan would be at 1/3, maybe 1/2 if it was in PERFECT condition, of that price. With a wagon, if you don't like the price, just wait a few years until another one comes up. This never was a factory option. They just built a few for reasons beyond my understanding. So if one comes up for sale, and the price is in the low 5-figure range that sounds reasonable to me.

Wow it's like the ugly unicorn only that one guy was ever actually looking for. Somethings are rare for a reason ;)
Just messing with you.

Holly Grail?
Plweessah!
Just kidding, I just wanted to say something about the 220-240 pickup.
The next example is (I'm pretty sure) the exact one I saw while on vacation three years ago (I got the photo from a local ad).
It apparently is an original MB 220D pick-up made by Mercedes-Benz Argentina, time hasn't been kind to it...
This, however, is just a super-fine 220-amino made in the states.

Wow, that's pretty. Pop a turbo on it and it's basically the most Jalop vehicle ever.

Pic from the ad
And the ad http://saucedeportezuelo.olx.com.uy/se-vende-merce…
Another one in Argentina, in white and in much better condition (40000 Argentinian pesos are about 7200 American Dollars)

"motor a reparar" sounds there's some work to be done. Still quite a good find! An /8-amino beats a wagon.

It says that the engine dies after idling a little, compression problems or something.
But what it really means is that you get to swap whatever you want in it :D, ain't it great?

More worthy? I don't think that can be beat but let me contribute this rare 1994 manual 4.0 Jeep Grand Cherokee for anyone interested in beating me to the chase :)

Hmm...I'd have a tough time deciding between this and a W123 wagon.
My plan would to transplant the OM606 from my 99 E Class into the wagon. Because racewagon.
